NYC: AUSTRALIA'S KANE ALEXANDER AT 54 BELOW

Australian theatre star & Sony recording artist returns to New York for his debut performance at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Monday, June 1st at 7:00 pm. Kane is perhaps best known for the lead roles he has performed on the musical stage: Bobby Strong in Urinetown (Helpmann Award nomination), Claude in the Australian production of Hair, Willard in Footloose (MO Award nomination), the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, and Billy Crocker in Anything Goes. He also performed in the 10th Anniversary production of Les Miserables, South Pacific, Angry Penguins, and Only Heaven Knows, and toured nationally with Lisa McCune in Love ... and all that follows. In the USA, Kane appeared in Elegies and An Evening with Jerry Herman. Although celebrated in Australia for his lead roles on the musical stage, and concert performances with opera stars Il Divo and Katherine Jenkins, Kane's first love is cabaret. NYC: PENNY ARCADE AT JOE'S PUB: LONGING LASTS LONGER

Penny Arcade and her long-time collaborator Steve Zehentner, continue their development of Longing Lasts Longer, a passionate rumination on love, longing and the loss of New York's cultural identity at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Mondays, June 1st & 8th, all shows at 7:00 pm. In the post-gentrified landscape of "The Big Cupcake," where ideas too have been gentrified, Longing Lasts Longer is set in a New York disappearing under the weight of suburbanization, cultural amnesia and the politically correct straightjacket of consensus. An ode to the eternal seeker, Longing Lasts Longer is equal parts memoir, manifesto, cultural critique and Cri de Coeur, where Arcade's snake-bite observations create a nourishing euphoric rush of truth telling as visionary as it is inclusive and hilarious. Embedded into this rollicking landscape, a live-mixed soundscape of music grooves ranging from Al Green to John Lennon, jump, counterpunch and exalt, charting an emotional pathway for the audience and a new anthem to personal happiness. Driven by her magnetic rock n' roll energy, Penny Arcade creates a crack in the post-gentrified landscape where you can think, laugh and dance at the same time! There is a $20 cover.

NYC: AT JOE'S PUB: TORI SCOTT: THIRSTY!

Belter and bad decision expert Tori Scott returns to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Monday, June 1st at 9:30 pm for another evening of brassy songs and slurred autobiographical stories. In "Thirsty!" her new solo show at Joe's Pub, she continues to evaluate her poor life choices and celebrate her love of vodka while belting songs written by other people. Thirsty! is Tori's 11th solo show at Joe's Pub. She's performed frequently at 54 Below, the Laurie Beechman, the Metropolitan Room, and basically every important cabaret stage except the bar at Flaming Saddles. The thirst is real, the vocals are legit, and the stories are, tragically, all too true. Come get drunk, clap a lot, and leave without learning a goddamned thing. There is a $20 cover.

The concert will feature Angelo Di Loreto on piano, Jeff Koch on bass and Philippe Lemm on drums. Trevor McQueen is a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and made his Broadway debut as Little Jake in the revival of Annie Get Your Gun. He is a frequent headliner at Birdland in NYC, having appeared as the frontman of a 17-piece big band. Trevor's love of music began at a very young age, while listening to Benny Goodman records in his neighbor's living room. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Adoption is expensive. Statistics say that an average adoption costs upwards of $30,000. The magnitude and uncertainty of these expenses is a significant obstacle standing in the way of permanent homes for the more than 150 million children around the globe who need parents. Through the generous contributions of donors, Helpusadopt.org is able to assist others in overcoming the financial obstacles they face when seeking to adopt. Helpusadopt.org's average grant is approximately $8,500 and since the organization's launch in 2007, Helpusadopt.org has helped to build 134 families by awarding over $1,000,000 in total adoption grants. NYC: T. OLIVER REID'S "DROP ME OFF IN HARLEM" RETURNS TO THE MET

T. Oliver Reid's much-lauded one-man revue, "Drop Me Off in Harlem," continues at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) with an extended run. Final show is on Sunday, May 31st at 7:00 pm. Filled with musical and cultural insights into the sultry demi-monde of Harlem jazz clubs and speakeasies in the 1930's, "Drop Me Off in Harlem" played four weeks in October/November 2014. Now, Reid reprises the Bistro Award-winning show in a staging that continues to draw on his multi-faceted skills as an actor-dancer-singer. The show's band consists of music director Lawrence Yurman on piano, Damien Bassman on percussion, Ray Kilday on bass, and Trevor Neumann on trumpet. Reid, a veteran of several Broadway musicals, has emerged as one of New York's most captivating male vocalists. Reid received the 2012 MAC Award for cabaret debut, and the 2013 Bistro Award for Theme Show ("Drop Me Off in Harlem's premiere) while making a string of high-profile appearances at Feinstein's, 54 Below and Dizzy's. His most recent Broadway credit is "After Midnight." He also appeared in the recent NBC television special "Peter Pan Live!" starring Allison Williams. In "Drop Me Off in Harlem," he leads the audience on a guided tour of Harlem's nightspots - from the famous and notorious to the obscure after-hours joints favored by the musicians and their confederates. As he delivers songs by Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, and Andy Razaf (among others), a masterful picture of the time and place is conjured. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY

After selling out an often-extended Off-Broadway run in 2013 (which attracted the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Joan Rivers, RuPaul and SNL's Kate McKinnon), a national tour, a 3-month Australian tour (where she was nominated for the Aussie equivalent of a Tony Award), and a summer run in Provincetown, RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon will return to New York with the World Premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY, a new musical comedy co-starring composer and musician Major Scales. This limited engagement begins performances May 21st at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). Performances are on Thursday through Saturday, May 28th through 30th, with a matinee performance on Sunday, May 31st at 1:00 pm. The show returns for more appearances in April. Dr. Dan and Kitty Witless were put on ice in the Twenties, and had their entire music catalogue purloined by today's pop artists. Now the hottest act ever frozen alive is back again, with more swinging hits from their stolen songbook! There's only one problem: Kitty's "in a family way" and no one's quite sure where the kid came from. Can The Vaudevillians still put on a show while bringing up baby? Major Scales is the evil twin of Richard Andriessen, a musician, writer and performer based in Seattle. He has written everything from award-winning New York shows on the east coast to music for amateur adult films on the west. Jinkx Monsoon is the alter ego of Jerick Hoffer, who graduated with a degree in theatrical performance from Cornish College in Seattle. With ten years experience on stage, Hoffer is a seasoned Portland-born entertainer who has captured the attention of his native northwest region. As early as 2006, Hoffer appeared as the lead dancer in the world's largest drag queen chorus line, which made the Guinness Book of World Records. By 2012, he had advanced to roles in Seattle theaters, playing Moritz in "Spring Awakening" (produced by Balagan Theatre), Angel in "Rent" (produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre), and Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group). In 2014 he was nominated for the Helpmann Award (alongside the likes of Cate Blanchett, Ivo Van Hove, Denis O'Hare and Baz Luhrmann), the Australian equivalent of a Tony, for his performanace in The Vaudevillians. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

When Ben Rimalower was eight years old, his father came out of the closet and embarked on a drug-fueled tear that left his family in tatters.
