CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: HIT LIST STARRING JEREMY JORDAN, KRYSTA RODRIGUEZ AND ANDY MIENTUS

Jeremy Jordan, Krysta Rodriguez, Andy Mientus, Carrie Manolakos and more will star in HIT LIST at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Sunday, December 8th at 11:30 pm. The second season of NBC's Smash featured a fictional new Broadway musical called HIT LIST, written by characters played by Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, The Last 5 Years) and Andy Mientus (Carrie, Spring Awakening), and starring Krysta Rodriguez (First Date,The Addams Family). The fictional musical opened at Manhattan Theatre Workshop and then transferred to Broadway, opening at the Barrymore Theatre and winning seven Tony Awards. HIT LIST the musical will receive its actual world premiere performance at 54 Below. HIT LIST, a modern fable about identity and the price of fame, tells the tragic love story of a wannabe pop singer who transforms herself to become a star and the hidden songwriter she uses to get there - but at what cost? HIT LIST will be presented by Julia Brownell, Joshua Safran and Jennifer Ashley Tepper. Benjamin Rauhala is musical director. The concerts will feature a full band. The score of HIT LIST was written by Drew Gasparini, Joe Iconis, Andrew McMahon, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman, and Lucie Silvas. The shows will include some additional songs from these composers that were intended for HIT LIST but never made it to air, and also special appearances by several of HIT LIST's composers and additional performers to be announced at a later date. There is a $75 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

N'Kenge had the great honor to give a solo performance at the Commander-in-Chief's Inaugural Ball hosted by President Obama. In addition, N'Kenge was seen singing "God Bless America" for the LA Dodgers Opening Game. Both events were televised through the US and Canada. N'Kenge, born and raised in the Bronx and later moved to Brooklyn as a teenager, was always a child of music. At the tender age of three, her mother enrolled her daughter for dance and piano classes as a means of channeling her daughter's unusual energy. This decision paid off with recitals and a piano scholarship by age six. However, when N'Kenge discovered that she possessed a singing voice this startlingly mature youngster began devoting herself to its full time development. N'Kenge continued her studies at the H.S. School of Performing Arts, Manhattan School of Music and The Julliard School winning kudos for her voice and beauty when she won the title as Miss Manhattan in the Miss America Pageant. Charles Grodin and John Gabriel team up for an evening of story and song at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, December 8th at 7:00 pm. Charles Grodin is most known for his roles in the movies, The Heartbreak Kid, Midnight Run, and the children's classic Beethoven movies. He has had seven books published and is a best selling author. For the last sixteen years he has been a commentator for CNBC, MSNBC and 60 Minutes II, and is currently a commentator for CBS News Radio heard all across America every day. John Gabriel is a multi-talented actor-singer and enjoys a career that spans a variety of media and genre. John is truly as gifted a singer as he is an actor. He is blessed with movie star good looks as well as a charming sense of humor. He made his feature film debut in "The Young Lions" starring Marlon Brando followed by a featured role in "The Hunters" with Robert Mitchum and Robert Wagner. John was the original professor in "Gilligan's Island." He played Pedro the Mexican bandito in Howard Hawk's "El Dorado" starring John Wayne for which he also wrote the title song with Nelson Riddle. Then, bi-coastal John played the lead on Broadway in "The Happy Time" and "Applause." While in New York cabarets he landed his first soap opera, "Love of Life" (Linc Morrison). To date, John has appeared in 16 feature films, and 54 television programs. One of his best friends is renowned songwriter Ervin Drake (I Believe, It Was A Very Good Year, Good Morning Heartache). Natalie Toro celebrates her "Just in Time for Christmas" CD Release at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Sunday, December 8th at 6:00 pm. Natalie Toro moves with equal ease from stage to screen to the recording studio. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, she made her stage debut during "Amateur Night" at the legendary Apollo Theater at just five years old. That night truly changed her life. Natalie began studying intense music training at The Manhattan School of Music by joining the Preparatory Division where she studied classical piano and voice every week until she was eighteen - while at the same time reaching for the stars by attending The High School of Music and Art. Her training continued at The Boston Conservatory of Music where she earned a BFA in Musical Theater. It wasn't long after graduating that the professional theatre world took notice of her unique talent. Natalie was the first American to play the role of Eponine in Les Miserables on Broadway, which she played for over three consecutive years. She also received accolades and critical acclaim for her portrayal of Madame Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities, which she originated on Broadway. A special moment during the run for this Puerto Rican woman was receiving an award for her outstanding achievements in the performing arts for Puerto Rican Heritage Month. She also won Sarasota Magazine's "Best Supporting Actress" award when the show played its pre-Broadway run at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. Fort Salem Theater presents The Singing Anchors' Annual Holiday Show on Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 pm at The MAINSTAGE AT FORT SALEM THEATER (11 East Broadway, Salem, NY - 518-854-9200). Holiday features solos, duets, and several trio numbers by the Anchors: Jerry Gretzinger, Jessica Layton, and Benita Zahn. Benita Zahn, anchor and health reporter for NewsChannel 13, performed in the first season of Fort Salem's cabaret in the summer of 2007, and has graced one or both of the Fort's stages every season since. In the fall of 2009, she brought along Channel 13 colleague, Jessica Layton, and their Channel 6 friend, Jerry Gretzinger. Their Fort Salem Theater presents The Singing Anchors has not only consistently filled the cabaret and Mainstage in Salem, but been enjoyed at venues throughout the Capital Region, including the Linda Norris Auditorium in Albany, broadcast on WAMC, a stint headlining at Saratoga's First Night, and their Singing Anchors On Broadway as a fundraiser for Chatham's MacHaydn Theatre this past September and as a part of Schuylerville Community Theater's Concert Series in October. Phoebe Legere, the renowned singer, author, composer and multi-format artist, has written a full-length musical comedy, "Shakespeare and Elizabeth I: The Reality Show." THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY (155 First Avenue, NYC - 212-254-1109) will present this world premiere from Saturday, November 29th through Sunday, December 15th. The show plays Thursdays through Saturday at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. The musical is about love, war, espionage and creative genius, and includes music written by Legere, who heads the cast of ten as Queen Elizabeth I. Director David Zen Mansley plays the Bard and trumpeter Rhys Tivey plays Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, the Queen's noble heartthrob. After analyzing the life, letters, translations, poetry and iconography of Queen Elizabeth I, Legere concluded that "Shakespeare" was, in fact, Elizabeth Tudor and her inner circle. Her new musical is a heady brew of "eye of newt, toe of frog," gigantic neck ruffs, amazing scenery and special effects. It features numerous quotes from the complete works of both Shakespeare and Elizabeth presented with Legere's signature social commentary and comic flair. This "Reality Show" is a feel-good feminist reading of the Shakespeare Brand enlivened by the music of Phoebe Legere. Tickets are $15.

Trumpeter Claudio Roditi will perform a Tribute to Dizzy Gillespie at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) for the December Brunch shows - showtime is 11:30 am. He is joined by Roni Ben-Hur, guitar; John Lee, bass; and Robin Baytas, drums. Integrating post-bop elements and Brazilian rhythmic concepts into his palette with ease, Grammy-nominee Claudio Roditi plays with power and lyricism. This versatility keeps the trumpeter in demand as a performer, recording artist and teacher. Born in 1946 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Roditi began his musical studies when he was just six years old. By the time he was twelve, he had already become a serious jazz listener. In 1966, he was named a finalist at the International Jazz Competition in Vienna, Austria. While in Vienna, Roditi met Art Farmer, one of his idols, and the friendship inspired the younger trumpeter to follow a career in jazz. He has since performed and recorded with many jazz greats, including Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Mann, Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, McCoy Tyner, Tito Puente, and Paquito D'Rivera. With over twenty critically acclaimed albums to his credit, Claudio Roditi continually develops his playing and compositions through new recording projects. His latest release features several Roditi originals (Bossa de Mank, Piccolo Samba, and the driving, straight-ahead tune, Levitation) framed by seven compositions written by Brazilian masters such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Johnny Alf, guitarist/composer Toninho Horta, and pianist Eliane Elias. $29.50 cover includes brunch, music and a drink.

Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on August 11th at LE PESCADEUX (90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere.
