Varla Jean Merman will appear in her new show "The Book of Merman" on Tuesdays through Sundays, April 17th through 29th at 8:00 pm (Sundays at 7:00 pm) at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189). She will be accompanied by Tom Shaw (piano) and Roberta Drake (drums). Jeffery Roberson aka Varla Jean Merman just recently starred in Willard Beckham's new musical Lucky Guy opposite Emmy Winner Leslie Jordan in NY at the Little Schubert Theatre. He also just completed shooting the feature film Varla Jean and The Mushroomheads which he wrote, starred in and produced. Jeffery guest starred as Varla Jean on Ugly Betty last year in the final season of the show. He was also featured on Bravo's Project Runway Season 5 as the winning model for the show's drag challenge. There is a $35-$40 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-570-7189) is pleased to welcome Clint Holmes back for a return three-week engagement, Tuesdays thorugh Saturdays, April 10th through 28th, all shows at 8:45 pm. Mr. Holmes, who made his debut last fall with "Remembering Bobby Short," will offer an all new program entitled "This Thing Called Love." Using the words and music of Cole Porter and Paul Simon, Holmes will explore, examine and compare the two songwriters' views on the universal subject of love. The evening will include such tunes as Porter's "Get Out of Town" juxtaposed with Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover," and Simon's contemporary classic "Slip Sliding Away" alongside the Porter standard "I Concentrate on You," among others. Mr. Holmes will be accompanied by a band led by his Musical Director/Arranger Jeffrey Neiman. The evening will be directed by Larry Moss. There is a $75 music charge ($45, bar) for the Tuesday-Thursday performances and an $85 music charge ($40, bar) for the Friday and Saturday performances.

Best-known for her eye-opening deconstructions of songs by American rockers, Jungr has been attracting growing international attention for boldly adding new names to the Great American Songbook, names like Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, David Byrne, Neil Diamond, Hank Williams and Elvis Presley. NYS: JERRY GRETZINGER SALUTES SINATRA WITH A SWING BAND

Channel 6 news anchor Jerry Gretzinger continues his extra-curricular life at TheMAINSTAGE AT FORT SALEM THEATER (11 East Broadway, Salem, NY - 518-854-9200) on Saturday, April 28th, at 8:00 pm, in his Sinatra tribute concert, Mostly Frank. He is backed with classic swing band arrangements by members of Albany's popular Swing Docs band, professionals themselves who moonlight as musicians. Jerry Gretzinger joined the WRGB news staff in 2002, and became co-anchor of the five o'clock news, with Liz Bishop, in 2007. He grew up in Kingston (NY) in a musical family. His father, superintendent of the Kingston School System, also moonlighted, performing leads in community theater musicals. Much of Gretzinger's singing has been in musical roles. Albany audiences have seen him in several shows, including The Producers and Chicago, and at Fort Salem in the 2010 hit production of Forever Plaid. Mostly Frank began as Jerry Gretzinger's first solo cabaret at Fort Salem in late 2010. The following spring, he and Fort Salem's Artistic Director, Jay Kerr, who serves as Gretzinger's musical director, added the swing band in a performance at WAMC's Linda Norris Auditorium, which has been broadcast several times on the public radio station. It is that group that comes to the Fort's Mainstage. Mostly Frank swings with vintage arrangements of "All of Me," "Fly Me to the Moon," and "That's Life," and pays homage Frank's unique skill interpreting lyrics over his sixty year career, with ballads such as "In the Wee Small Hours" and the beautiful Jobim bossa nova tune, "Wave." The $25 admission includes a $5 credit toward coffee and dessert provided by Norene and Fred's of Salem.

Lucille celebrates the work of Carole King, Laura Nyro, Joan Baez, Carly Simon, Janis Ian and other artists whose words and music explored the huge societal shifts associated with the civil rights, women's liberation, and anti-war movements. Their songs challenge, soothe, and entertain us, all the while illuminating an emotional history of America during an era that changed our culture and the way we viewed the world. Lucille performed for a number of years in the regional productions of the New Jersey-based Entertainers Theater before developing her first cabaret act. Since her Don't Tell Mama debut in 1999, she has presented seven different one-woman shows at clubs in New York City, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, including Mama Rose's, The Encore, Helen's, Odette's, The Stockton Inn, and Bob Egan's Cabaret Supper Club. She has also appeared as a guest performer in special productions at both the Laurie Beechman Theater and the Metropolitan Room. Lucille is the recipient of the prestigious Hanson Award, presented each year to one individual by the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs. Her music director is Frank Doyle. Laurie is a professionally trained vocalist specializing in jazz standards. Eric Michael Gillett is a MAC and Bistro Award winning vocalist whose shows have included "Cast of Thousands - Gillett Sings Carnelia," "It Takes Two - The Duets of Stephen Sondheim" (with Melanie Vaughan), and his critically lauded collection of radio songs of the past forty years, "Hook, Line & Singer." Eric Michael has been seen on Broadway in the casts of Kiss Me, Kate, Sweet Smell of Success, and The Frogs. Television appearances include "Law & Order," "Ed," and "Law & Order: SVU," and he was also seen in the feature films Maid in Manhattan, My Brother, The Third Testament and The Producers (on-screen and on the soundtrack). For twelve years, Eric Michael appeared as the Ringmaster of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, touring the continental United States and appearing on countless television and radio programs. NYC: FREE OUTDOOR CONCERTS RETURN TO TUDOR CITY GREENS!

The new season of the Concerts for City Greens FREE outdoor concert series resumes on Wednesday, May 30th at 6:30 pm at TUDOR CITY GREENS PARK (enter at Tudor City Place between East 42nd and East 43rd Streets). This event will feature professional performers from Broadway and the New York City cabaret and jazz scene, who all donate their time and talent to benefit the Parks. The concert will be hosted by Tudor City resident, Broadway and cabaret performer Raissa Katona Bennett (Phantom of the Opera, Chess). This May's season opener concert performers TBA. The Concerts for City Greens, the free outdoor concert series, brings the sounds of live music to diverse urban audiences in unique, privately maintained public green spaces across the city. Concert is free and open to the public. Donations are invited.

Peggy Herman releases a brand new recording of her critically acclaimed show, "Herman on Herman," her tribute to Broadway legend Jerry Herman, at FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) on Sunday May 6th at 7:30 pm. The one-night-only concert features many of the songs from the show's premiere at the Metropolitan Room in May of last year, plus additional material that was added to the project in the intervening months. With arrangements by the renowned music director Alex Rybeck, "Herman on Herman (with a Touch of Merman)" gives the Jerry Herman songbook a whole new spin, lending a fresh take on these classic Broadway show tunes. Backing Herman on Herman are Rybeck on piano, Jered Egan on bass and Rex Benincasa on drums and percussion. The same threesome play on the album, augmented by strings, brass, winds, and guitarist Sean Harkness. "Herman on Herman ... Peggy Sings Jerry" (the CD's title) features exciting new arrangements of songs from "Hello Dolly!" "Mame," "La Cage aux Folles," "Mack & Mabel," and other Herman hits. In the studio, Herman and Rybeck added new songs, including "The Best of Times is Now," "Before the Parade Passes By," and "If He Walked Into My Life." There is a $30-$50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

Anders will be taking to the stage with a new program: "The Man Inside The Song". Under the direction of Eric Michael Gillett, the performance will feature original as well as innovative covers by the likes Lou Reed, Michael Jackson and The Backstreet Boys, among others. Holst will be joined on stage by musical director, keyboardist and producer, Bennett Pastor along with Sean Harkness, on guitar. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
