Using the words and music of Cole Porter and Paul Simon, Holmes will explore, examine and compare the two songwriters' views on the universal subject of love. The evening will include such tunes as Porter's "Get Out of Town" juxtaposed with Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover," and Simon's contemporary classic "Slip Sliding Away" alongside the Porter standard "I Concentrate on You," among others. Mr. Holmes will be accompanied by a band led by his Musical Director/Arranger Jeffrey Neiman. The evening will be directed by Larry Moss. Acclaimed jazz singer/pianist Eric Comstock celebrates the centennial of one of the great craftsmen of American song, burton lane, atTHE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00 pm. Burton Lane (1912-97) composed the scores for FINIAN'S RAINBOW and ON A CLEAR DAY, and his staggering list of pop standards includes: "How About You", "Old Devil Moon", "What Did I Have That I Don't Have", "The Lady's In Love With You", and "Everything I Have Is Yours", co-written with lyricists Ira Gershwin, Alan Jay Lerner, Frank Loesser, Yip Harburg and others. Comstock first performed a version of this program at Lincoln Center's American Songbook, and wanted to reprise it in Lane's centennial year. Comstock headlines at concert halls and cabarets coast to coast, often with vocalist Barbara Fasano. Their 2011 show, "HELLUVA TOWN" at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room Supper Club has toured the country from Palm Beach to San Francisco. Four-time Grammy nominee violinist Philippe Quint celebrates two major milestones with a concert at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Monday, April 23rd at 7:30 pm. He will announce the release of his latest album featuring music by Mendelssohn, Bruch, and Beethoven; plus the theatrical release of Downtown Express, a new independent film starring Philippe in the lead role opposite singer/songwriter Nellie McKay. The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present Steven Brinberg as SIMPLY BARBRA in 70 GIRL, 70! - A Birthday Celebration Concert on Monday, April 23RD at 7:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). On the eve of Barbra Streisand's 70th birthday, internationally renowned impersonator Steven Brinberg celebrates the diva with songs she sang in ... the 70s! As always, Christopher Denny will musical direct, and there will be special guest stars. Steven Brinberg has been acclaimed worldwide for his vocal performance of Barbra Streisand. In addition to touring the United States, he has also performed extensively in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Spain, Mexico and Canada ... more cities than the real Barbra! He regularly appears in Symphony concerts with none other than Marvin Hamlisch, the Oscar-winning composer of "The Way We Were." Several years ago, Steven was hired by Streisand's management to perform at Donna Karan's birthday party. He has recorded two CDs and has appeared in several feature films and on television, as well as onstage at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center and on Broadway in the benefit production of Funny Girl, which featured Whoopi Goldberg. There is a $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

SF: VARLA JEAN MERMAN AND THE BOOK OF MERMAN

Varla Jean Merman will appear in her new show "The Book of Merman" on Tuesdays through Sundays, April 17th through 29th at 8:00 pm (Sundays at 7:00 pm) at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189). She will be accompanied by Tom Shaw (piano) and Roberta Drake (drums). Jeffery Roberson aka Varla Jean Merman just recently starred in Willard Beckham's new musical Lucky Guy opposite Emmy Winner Leslie Jordan in NY at the Little Schubert Theatre. He also just completed shooting the feature film Varla Jean and The Mushroomheads which he wrote, starred in and produced. Jeffery guest starred as Varla Jean on Ugly Betty last year in the final season of the show. He was also featured on Bravo's Project Runway Season 5 as the winning model for the show's drag challenge. There is a $35-$40 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

The show will be presented this month on Sunday, April 22nd at 7:00 pm, Broadway on 22nd Street has become one of the most talked about cabaret series. Each month three performers from Broadway head downtown to strut their stuff. Each performer sings a 4-song set and they also may team up with another performer for a duet or even group number. April's edition features Jeremy Giraud Abram, Linda Schell and Nikkteli Damone. Musical director is Tracy Stark. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
